I couldn't put this book down. It had heartache, loss, morally grey hero, friendships, soul mates and humour, with lots of delicious spice. Enjoy!
Slight speedbump in the world of over-the-top, possessive, protective, and super swoony and gently unhinged men, but our MMC is resourceful and persistent (and slightly devious) if nothing else.
I loved this book! I am a big fan of this binge-worthy series and the adjacent Pucking Wrong series. I devour them!
I adored so many aspects of this book, including bromance, found family, deep emotional connections, and wonderfully compassionate and relatable representations of grief, mental health, trauma, and healing.
This book (like this entire series) is entertaining and fast-paced. I simply could not put the books down!
The story is very intense to the point of being absurd but the banter, the chosen family + the family bond, the trauma … makes it endearing!
So I will recommend it
As always, the story was gripping full of possessive, alpha heat, steam love and intrigue. And I cannot forget all of the laughter, the laughing out loud was out of control and real folks!
I love finally getting Parker story after meeting him and the other series with the Disney, Walker. I’m assuming Cole story is gonna be coming at some point but right now I’m enjoying the college years with Parker. He was not necessarily as psychopathic as his brother and the others and the other books, but he sure held his own as far as the crazy possessiveness went.
Then we have our h, Casey. I fell in love with her, literally from the prologue. I felt for her, and I wanted to be her friend as well. Her story was so gripping and heartbreaking that I was totally rooting for her HEA. She had been through some things in her life and she totally deserve to be happy. There was a part in this book, but it was actually with Parker and his mother, that almost made me cry. I was listening at that point and the narrator Lucas Webley, almost had me bawling like a baby sitting in traffic at a stoplight with the car next to me looking at me like I’d lost my marbles. I completely had to pause and take it back up after I got done with what I was doing because I knew I was going to cry. No spoilers here! But I did cry.
The other narrator Alexis Paige did an amazing job as always as well. She really brought Casey to life and added another dimension to the story.
All in all, I loved this as I knew I would. C. R. Jane cannot write anything that I won’t love. I’ve literally been excited to get my hands on everything that she’s ever written. I can’t wait to hear Jason story hoping that comes out soon!!
As the relationship unfolds between Casey and Parker, we explore themes of: trust, forgiveness, and self-discovery. CR perfectly portrays Casey's and Parker's internal and external struggles, making their journeys relatable and emotionally resonant. The story is filled with moments of passion, tension, and heartfelt introspection, keeping readers engaged until the final pages. You definitely need tissues, but for happy and sad tears...especially since you start the book with tears.
Let me tell you about character development. Casey is well-rounded, possessing both strength and vulnerability, which makes her journey compelling. Her evolution throughout the book—from someone who initially follows her heart without reservation but also hesitation, to someone who learns to set boundaries and recognize self-worth—is both realistic and inspiring.
Parker is equally complex. Rather than being a stereotypical sports hero, he is given layers that make him more human—flawed and morally grey, yet redeemable. CR skillfully portrays his struggles with fame, personal insecurities, family issues, and past mistakes, allowing readers to empathize with him despite his imperfections and how he gets things done and gets what he wants.
Even the supporting characters CR writes add richness to the narrative, providing comic relief, guidance, or even conflict that propels the main storyline forward. Don't get me started on Jace alone. And Casey's best friend is the PERFECT wingwoman and cheerleader. Each character serves a purpose, contributing to the story's growth and emotional depth.
The banter, the possessiveness and the spice!!! Absolutely fantastic love love loved it!
